Title: Gigabit-to-the-Home in Västerås

Mälarenergi Stadsnät, a utility company, providing services to the municipality of Västerås, Sweden, was one of the first PacketFront customers who implemented an Open Access network on a large scale. Currently, Mälarenergi Stadsnät has more than 50000 end-customers and enterprises connected to the broadband network and offers more than 100 different services from all the leading service providers in Sweden. 

Mälarenergi Stadsnät has again taken a pioneering role and has started a Gigabit-to-the-Home project, initially connecting 240 households. The project was implemented in the end of 2010 and is up and running.

"Users in Västerås can now enjoy the best broadband services in the world with ultra fast download speeds when surfing on the web or watching movies. At the same time, full quality HDTV provides a unique media experience. It is the ultimate broadband service", says Jurgen Persson, Senior Account Manager at PacketFront.
