December 2010 Transmode, a leading supplier of optical networking solutions, today announced that FarEasTone, Taiwan's largest Mobile Service provider, has deployed a new TM-Series iWDM metro network in Taipei, Taiwan. FarEasTone has deployed Transmode's TM-Series Intelligent WDM (iWDMTM) optical networking platform to enable the delivery of reliable, high-capacity transport services in the capital of Taiwan, Taipei. The optical network infrastructure will be used for fixed network traffic. The network operator had identified the need to expand their existing infrastructure and sought a company whose products were flexible, easy to implement and cost effective. FarEasTone chose Transmode's TM-Series platform after rigorous testing where flexibility and scalability were the key selection criterion. FarEasTone's network team worked with Transmode and Opnet Technologies, a local specialist Value Added Reseller, to roll out a cost effective, robust and scalable solution initially across a six node point-to-point network. "FarEasTone is delighted with the solution supplied by Transmode and Opnet, which has improved our connectivity and service to our customers. The implementation was swift and cost-effective. In addition we were able to easily integrate the Transmode network management platform with our OSS and BSS systems," said Richard Tseng, Manager of Network & Solution Planning Department, FarEasTone Taiwan. Cecilia Yang, Opnet's sales manager on the project, said "We are proud to have worked with FarEasTone to provide them with Transmode's iWDM solution as it has exceeded our customer's expectations from a technical as well as from a financial point of view." Bjorn Anderson, Transmode's VP Sales commented, "The growth rate and demand for fixed and mobile broadband in Asia is tremendous. This installation is an example of how Transmode's iWDM equipment can maximize the use of an existing optical networking infrastructure to help an operator cost effectively increase its service levels to meet these growing demands."
