Date: 7th June 2007 Title: Transmode upgrades Norrsken to 10G with new Dual 10G Transponder Norrsken, a major regional operator in Sweden has selected Transmode, a leading provider of optical networking solutions and partner Lidén Data for a network wide 10G upgrade utilizing the new Dual 10G Transponder from Transmode. The capacity upgrade and network expansion extends Norrsken's networking capabilities across Sweden and further enhances their carriers-carrier solutions. In addition to deploying Transmode's highly successful 9x Gigabit Ethernet 10G Muxponder in the capacity upgrade, Norrsken is the first customer to deploy the latest Double 10G Transponder from Transmode, the TPD10GBE. The transponder provides industry leading 10G Ethernet networking density and pricing along with the highest level of functionality with features such as in-band management, Forward Error Correction and optional regeneration capabilities. "Whilst Transmode is a long term CWDM supplier to Norrsken, we took this opportunity to re-evaluate the whole supplier market in making the decision on our 10G DWDM supplier," said Björn Jonsson, Norrsken's CEO. "Following the evaluation Transmode and Lidén Data remained the best choice for Norrsken and we are excited about the capabilities this new network provides us and our customer." The Transmode TM-series Multi-reach Optical Platform provides users with a common set of C/DWDM Transponders and Muxponders over a range of three chassis options from high capacity 10u chassis to 1u chassis for access nodes. The TM-Series supports a range of single and dual fibre configurations providing transport and access solutions for regional and national networks to metro and campus networks. "The new Dual 10GbE Transponder is an incredibly popular card and we've received multiple orders prior to the planned, and achieved, release date," said Björn Andersson, Transmode's VP Sales.
