Title: PacketFront customers clean up at the global Cornerstone Awards

PacketFront, a leader in FTTH (fibre to the home) technology and next-generation broadband aggregation, has announced that three of its most successful customers have scooped up prestigious Cornerstone Awards, presented and organised by Broadband Properties Magazine in the USA. The nine winners of the tenth annual awards were selected by a committee of industry leaders, analysts and writers – all looking for companies and individuals that have achieved impressive feats in the broadband and telecommunications industry in the past twelve months.

This is the second consecutive year that PacketFront customers have been awarded for their innovation and vision. The advanced nature and practical benefits at the heart of each winning company's broadband network impressed the judges and put them well ahead of the competition in terms of forward thinking design.

"Best Use of Fibre to Bridge the Digital Divide" has been awarded to Interfibra & Tierra Urbana, a pioneering carrier, for its development in Monterrey, Mexico – bringing triple play services (Internet, IPTV and telephony) to low income workers in more than 4,000 homes. In order to provide residents with services at rates as low as $25 per month, Interfibra sought innovative ways to reduce its operating and capital expenditures. Interfibra selected PacketFront's broadband solution for its proven ability to cost-effectively manage the network.

The "FTTH and FTTB (fibre to the building) with Advanced IP Services" award went to Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), a Dubai based company, in which PacketFront facilitates the deployment of an impressive 150 IPTV channels. With the largest infrastructure in the Middle East, EITC was recognised for demonstrating a focus on innovative services for the present and future needs of its customers.

The "FTTH Network, City of Nuenen" has been awarded to VolkerWessels Telecom, a Dutch construction company. This open access and fully automated network is one of the largest FTTH networks in the Netherlands and Nuenen has become the only fully connected city in Holland – serving 8,000 households with a comprehensive selection of triple play broadband services.

"It gives me great pleasure to present these companies with Cornerstone Awards," said Scott De Garmo, president and CEO of Broadband Properties Magazine. "The judges looked at a wide range of projects around the world before making their final decisions, but the scale and innovation of these ventures caused PacketFront's customers to lead the pack. I look forward to following their progress in the coming years."

"We are delighted that so many of our most successful and forward-thinking customers have won Cornerstone Awards," said Martin Thunman, CEO of PacketFront. "The diverse selection of awards won by our clients really reflects the flexibility and innovation of the PacketFront solution. It has always been important to us as a company to make broadband accessible not just to the affluent and urban based, but to everyone. These successes show that this is not a dream, but realistic and achievable today."

The key component in PacketFront's broadband solution is the award-winning BECSTM control and provisioning system. BECS makes it possible for operators to build and run fully automated broadband networks with self-provisioning capabilities. These capabilities give users the option to choose services for themselves without having to wait for a third party to make the changes.

About the Cornerstone Award
Originally established in 1989 as the Diamond Tier Awards and presented as recognition of achievement to companies providing cable services to the MDU industry (apartments and hotels). The Cornerstone Awards have been expanded to include and recognize achievements in broadband and telecommunications for all communities and municipalities, including residential multifamily (apartments, campus housing, active adult communities) and planned communities (multi-home developments, renewed urban areas). Each year, a committee of industry leaders, analysts, and writers vote to bestow these Cornerstone Awards to companies or individuals whose accomplishments of the previous 12 months they felt are deserving of special recognition.
