Title: PacketFront wins InfoVision award for its cutting-edge BECS technology

PacketFront, the world leader in open access fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology and next generation broadband aggregation, has been awarded by the International Engineering consortium (IEC) with an InfoVision Award, in recognition of its innovative control and provisioning system, BECS. The award, which recognises unique technologies, applications, products, advances and services deemed to particularly benefit the telecom industry, will be celebrated at IEC's Broadband World Forum Asia 2006 between the 15 and 18 May.

PacketFront won the award in the "Access network technologies and services" category, and was selected from hundreds of nominees, based on strict criteria, including innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society.

BECS, the winning system, is the central control and provisioning system of PacketFront's automated broadband solution. It provides unique and world-leading functionalities for the control and provisioning of advanced triple-play services, including carrier-class multicast services.

The open access, flexible business model BECS employs is based on an approach that shares both risks and revenues, and it offers valuable wholesale opportunities for the network owner. BECS includes vital functionality in areas such as security, traceability, QoS and conditional access. The system is highly scaleable and ensures high availability, making it ideal for both small-scale and large-scale broadband deployments. Furthermore, open and well-defined interfaces make BECS easy to integrate with a network owner's or service provider's existing OSS/BSS systems.
