Title: Hurricane Electric selects Transmode for 10 Gbit/s DWDM network
upgrade
Hurricane
Electric, a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider, announced
today that it has successfully deployed Transmode's TS-1100 C/DWDM optical
transport solution to significantly expand its network in California.
The new Transmode network comprises 10G and 2.5G WDM links carrying Gigabit
Ethernet traffic between 4 major POPs, giving Hurricane Electric significant
additional capacity, greater network throughput and greater network resilience
for its broad customer base.
Hurricane Electric provides technical web hosting including dedicated
servers and colocation. The company is experiencing tremendous growth
across the whole of its network and has recently expanded internationally
with facilities in London and Amsterdam and added additional ports to
a number of US POPs.
"At Hurricane Electric we differentiate ourselves with leading technical
hosting and quality of service," said Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric's
President. "Transmode's solution offers us the ability to manage
our current network more efficiently and to grow our network more economically
in the future, thereby enabling us to strengthen these differentiators."
The Transmode TS-1100 provides Hurricane Electric with a flexible and
scalable platform utilizing the 7900 multi-protocol 10G Transponder, 7700
multi-protocol 2.5G Transponder and the 5400 2x GbE aggregator. Using
patented Intelligent WDM (iWDM) protocol recognition and functionality
such as SFP/XFP pluggable optics the TS-1100 provides network operators
and enterprises with a true plug and play experience, greatly reducing
network and service turn up times.
"Hurricane Electric is an important win for Transmode, against solid
competition," said Morgan Noecker, Transmode's Director of North
American Sales. "Our engineers have worked closely with Hurricane
Electric to provide the optimum network design for their requirements
and we look forward to continuing to exceed their expectations in the
future. Furthermore, this win and other as yet unannounced wins strengthen
our position in the North American which is a rapidly growing market for
Transmode."
