Title: PacketExchange to deploy Transmode Metro WDM
PacketExchange,
the internet peering innovator, and Transmode, a pioneering supplier of
optical networking systems, today announced that PacketExchange has selected
Transmode's TM-Series platform for its London Metro WDM upgrade.
Transmode will deploy a 7 node CWDM Metro ring for PacketExchange to replace
its existing London WDM system. This new platform will support protected
and unprotected Gigabit Ethernet services in addition to SDH and other
network capacity requirements.
PacketExchange's network upgrade increases network resilience and availability
for its UK customer base of over 600, whilst also increasing the flexibility
of the network for future additional capacity. In addition the project
consolidates the traffic from the two London networks following the successful
acquisition of XchangePoint earlier this year.
"PacketExchange has recently been voted the 14th Fastest Growing
Technology Company in the UK. Our industry leadership depends on utilizing
the right technology in our network and after fully evaluating the options
available we've selected Transmode," said Kieron O'Brien, PacketExchange's
CEO. "Transmode's solutions offer us the ability to manage our current
network more efficiently and to grow our network more economically in
the future."
The Transmode Double Dual Gigabit Ethernet Transponder provides up to
four client circuits over 2 wavelengths in an industry leading form-factor,
in addition to advanced functionality such as optical protection, in-band
management and performance and utilization monitoring.
"PacketExchange is a significant win for Transmode, against stiff
competition," said Isaac Olasoko, Transmode's CEO. "Our engineers
have worked closely with PacketExchange to provide the optimum network
design for their requirements and we look forward to continuing to exceed
their expectations in the future."
