Title: Transmode Systems AB selected by Cablecom
Transmode
Systems AB, a leading supplier of transmission equipment for fibre optic
networks, announced today that it has been selected by Cablecom, the largest
cable TV operator in Switzerland.
Cablecom has 1.5 million customers via its own network and another 0.5
million via partner networks in Switzerland, making it the largest cable
TV operator in the country. The company is investing heavily in expanding
its network and keeping it up to date with modern technology. Thanks to
this, Cablecom customers can today use cable to surf the Internet, send
e-mails, talk on the phone, watch television, enjoy feature films at home,
and exchange huge volumes of data at high speed.
Transmode is providing Cablecom with WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
transmission equipment. System 1100 is a versatile and robust platform
that is very easy to install and operate, saving the customer valuable
operational expenses. Combining this with the low capital expenditure
associated with purchasing the equipment, Transmode has brought unparalleled
cost-efficiency to Cablecom's networks.
TRIGON AG, Transmode's Value Added Reseller (VAR) in Switzerland, will
provide product support and training and act as Service Partner for Cablecom.
TRIGON is one of the most successful VARs for Transmode in Europe.
"Our relationship with TRIGON has been very fruitful and we have
won several customers together, mainly in the Enterprise sector. The addition
to that list of a quality customer like Cablecom from the operator segment
is of course a very important one. We are honoured to be an approved vendor
of Cablecom, and we are determined to continue to beat their expectations",
says Frank Segers, Transmode's VP of Channel Sales.
Walter Bichsel Manager Data Platform of Cablecom responds: "The Transmode
system is very easy and flexible both in planning and in use. We are using
System 1100 for various applications, ranging from our internal IT infrastructure
needs to connectivity to our Enterprise and Wholesale customers as well
as in our cable TV network".
