Attracts £33m Funding
European Equity Partners has raised an additional £33m
(£20m) for its fund investing mainly in Scandinavian technology businesses.
The UK-based £53m fund focusing on Swedish technology companies
in the fibre-optic communications or mobile services areas. Hans Blomberg,
a co-founder of the fund and former vice-president of mergers and acquisitions
at Merrill Lynch International, said: "There are a lot of good technology
companies coming out of Swedish universities or being set up by staff
who used to work for Ecrisson." They are particularly strong in fibre-optic
technologies because a lot of fibre-optic cable has been laid in Sweden.
The fund's strategy is to invest between £1m and £5m in promising
businesses that need first-round funding.
